Hoshizaki Beep Codes & Reset Guide

Accurate diagnostic guide based on official Hoshizaki specifications. Always consult your specific model's service manual before attempting repairs.

๐Ÿ”Š Official Hoshizaki Beep Code System

Count beeps carefully - each pattern indicates specific problem

1

1 Beep - High Temperature Error

High temperature at evaporator outlet (thermistor on suction line)

Causes:
  • Hot water supply to unit
  • Hot water migration from external sources
  • Cooling system failure
Action: Check water temperature, inspect cooling system, verify ambient conditions
2

2 Beeps - Long Harvest Cycle

Harvest cycle exceeded 20 minutes (unit shuts down after 2 consecutive occurrences)

Causes:
  • Ice not releasing from evaporator
  • Sticking float switches
  • Harvest assist mechanism issues
LED: Orange D13 LED illuminates on control board
3

3 Beeps - Long Freeze Cycle

Unit exceeded backup freeze time protection (typically 60 minutes, twice consecutively)

Causes:
  • Sticking float switches
  • Inlet water valve leaks
  • Refrigeration problems
  • Low water flow
LED: Yellow D14 LED illuminates on control board
6

6 Beeps - Low Voltage

Voltage dropped below 92 volts ยฑ 5 percent

AUTO-RESET: Resolves automatically when proper voltage restored
Action: Check electrical supply, verify voltage stability
7

7 Beeps - High Voltage

Voltage exceeded 147 volts ยฑ 5 percent

AUTO-RESET: Resolves automatically when proper voltage restored
Action: Check voltage regulator, electrical system

๐Ÿ”„ Official Reset Procedures

Two methods: Control board reset (preferred) or power cycle

Method 1: Control Board Reset (Preferred)

  1. 1 Locate main control board inside electrical compartment
  2. 2 Identify WHITE reset button (newer models) or BLACK reset button (older models)
  3. 3 CRITICAL: Ensure power is ON (reset only works with power on)
  4. 4 Using non-conductive tool, press and hold reset button for 2-3 seconds
  5. 5 Listen for normal startup sounds and verify operation

Best for: Clearing specific error codes, after component repairs

Note: Control board may be green, tan, or blue depending on model year

Method 2: Power Cycle Reset (Alternative)

  1. 1 Turn OFF machine using power switch
  2. 2 Unplug power cord from wall outlet
  3. 3 Wait minimum 5 minutes for complete system discharge
  4. 4 Plug power cord back in
  5. 5 Turn ON and monitor startup sequence

Best for: When reset button inaccessible, after power outages

Note: May not clear all error conditions requiring manual reset

๐Ÿ“Š Technical Specifications & Requirements

Electrical Requirements

  • โœ“ Operating range: 97-142 volts ยฑ 5%
  • โš ๏ธ Low voltage alarm: <92 volts (6 beeps - auto reset)
  • โš ๏ธ High voltage alarm: >147 volts (7 beeps - auto reset)

Water Supply Requirements

  • ๐Ÿ’ง Water pressure: 20-80 PSI (per manufacturer spec)
  • ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Water temperature: 45-70ยฐF optimal
  • ๐Ÿงช TDS: <300 ppm recommended

Cycle Time Limits

  • โฐ Harvest cycle limit: 20 minutes (2 beep alarm)
  • โฑ๏ธ Freeze cycle limit: 60 minutes typical (3 beep alarm)

Houston Climate Considerations

Houston's high humidity and hard water accelerate scale buildup. Monitor water quality closely and implement preventive maintenance schedules. High ambient temperatures can trigger temperature-related alarms.
